How to Paint a Car Roof
Prepare the Roof for Painting
First of all, if you want to repaint the previous color on your car’s roof, then look at the paint color code of the vehicle, and choose the color according to that color code.
If you want to choose another color then in my opinion black color is very popular at present, and it will be the best choice for you. But you can select the other best automotive color if you want.
Before painting, choose a place that has a well-ventilated area. It is very important to choose a ventilated area for the roof painting to dry quickly.
Then thoroughly clean the car roof with regular automotive soap, sponge, and water. After it is completely clean, wait for the air to dry.
Note: Avoid drying with a towel or in any other manual way.
Wear Personal Safety Gear
Automotive paint contains a type of chemical, which can be harmful to our human skin. If you do not use an air paint sprayer, you should still wear personal painting safety gear. So before painting, wear gloves, goggles, long sleeves, and pants for your safety, which will protect your whole body.
Sand the Whole Roof
First, soak the sandpaper in water, then rub it on the roof of your car and apply it until it is smooth. You can also use a spray bottle to wet the roof space.
After sanding, clean the roof thoroughly with the help of tack cloths, wet rags, and a degreaser.
Then cover and protect the areas you do not want to paint with the help of painting tape. And make sure your car door, windshield are well covered. Because if the paints are accidently dropped on the other parts of the car during painting, then it will be very difficult to remove them.
Applying the Paint
First, shake the spray bottle for 1 to 5 minutes so that the bottle’s paint is well mixed. Then hold the spray bottle at a distance of 30 cm from the roof of your car, then start spraying from one side. After spraying from one side to the other, wait 20 minutes after complete roof painting.
Then start second time painting again at the end of 20 minutes, and wait 20 minutes. Thus finish the spray three times in a series by waiting for 20 minutes. It will be a complete painting, and there will be no possibility of leaving any space.
Then leave your car paint to dry for 12 hours or more. After completely dry the roof paint, remove all the tape attached to the car to cover the glass and other parts.
Enjoy the roof look of your new design after that.
